IBM Bolsters ACS with Database and Administrative Goodies by Alex Woodie
Speaking of IBM i enhancements coming with IBM i 7.4, the new release of Access Client Solutions (ACS) is drawing praise from database engineers and system administrators. ACS has become the go-to client interface that many IBM i professionals are using to access their systems for different tasks. With all the news surrounding this massive release from IBM, it has been easy to overlook even significant enhancements like the ones done to ACS. This Java-based product which first came to be in 2012, brings several vital components to clients including data transfer capabilities, IFS file viewing, virtual console for LAN and HMC management, and more. Now that IBM i Access for Windows has been removed, it is even more important to get up to speed on the enhancements made to ACS.
