This week we are discussing the recent updates to Profound UI and Profound.js 2.0 and how they can help you...
Over the last few months the Profound Logic team has been working hard on updating both Profound UI and Profound.js 2.0 to help answer reoccurring questions from our customers. Profound Pro Tips wanted to showcase some of the higher profile updates that we have been working on.
Profound UI
Tool to Work with URL Mappings for Universal Display Files
With Profound UI 5.10.0, we now provide a tool to maintain URL mappings used for Universal Display Files. Previously, in order to maintain your URL mappings, you needed to use a database editing tool. This new tool that we provide makes it easier for users to add, change and delete URL mappings without needing a separate editing utility. The name of the command used to call this tool is PUIWRKMAP and can be used with both the Rich Display and Genie modules of Profound UI.
Tool to Maintain Language Translations
Starting with version 5.10.0 of Profound UI, we provide a tool to maintain language translations used throughout Profound UI. Prior to the release of this tool, users had maintained the translations database file using a DB editor. This tool makes it easier for users to add, change and delete language translations without having to use a separate database editing utility. This tool can be used with the Rich Display or Genie module of Profound UI and can be called with the PUIWRKTRAN command.
Work with Initial Library List Setup
Starting with version 5.10.0 of Profound UI, we provide a tool to control the initial library list setup for Rich Display File Applications. This new utility can be used with Rich Display or Genie module of Profound UI. This tool makes it easier for a user to add, change and delete initial library list setup without having to use a separate database editing utility or SQL. The name of the command used to call this tool is PUIWRKLIBL.
Profound.js 2.0
We have also been working hard to improve the use and function of our newest product Profound.js 2.0 as well. Here is a list of updates that we have added within the last few months:
- NoSQL jsonDB driver for offline database capabilities with automatic synchronization with IBM i
- Built in code profiling to track performance issues in customer application code and in framework code
- Support for Node.js 8.x
- Improved integration with VSCode Debugger
- Support for batch programming using Profound.js
- Performance improvements across the board including IBM i communications and I/O improvements
- Support for IBM i-hosted Profound UI installs when Profound.js is running on a separate server
- Built-in Profound UI downloader
- Fiber wrappers for API libraries, asynchronous functions, and promises
- New SQL API to simplify SQL development, including support for primitive data, simplified queries, and SQL State wrapper API
